Nannies provide one-to-one care in the family home, so it is similar
to the type of care a child receives from a parent. Your child
will therefore benefit from plenty of attention and stimulation, and,
in the vast majority of cases, will form an emotional bond with his or her nanny.
Employing an in-home child carer allows a child to adjust more gradually
to parents who are returning to work. Although the primary carer is away, the
surroundings remain the same, and the child can enjoy the familiarity
and security of being at home.
Most nannies now study towards an early years or childcare qualification.
Many of the nannies registered with us are qualified, holding one of the following:
- NVQ childcare qualification
- EDEXCEL (BTEC) National Diploma in Early Years.
- NNEB - Diploma in Nursery Nursing
- DCE & CACHE - Diploma in Childcare and Education
- MNT training – maternity and nanny training
A qualification shows that the nanny is commited gives reassurance that the nanny is committed to her
profession, and that she has recieved training in areas such as nutrition, development and learning through play.
A loving nanny often becomes a member of the family, and stays in touch
with the children even after she has left.
One of the commonest nightmares that you might find as a working parent
is the conflict that arises when you are expected at work, say for
an important meeting, and your child falls ill. Employing a nanny eliminates
this worry, as they will be in place during the day to take care of
