Live-Out Nannies (Daily)
A live-out (daily) nanny provided by Royal Nannies will be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years of childcare experience and may also hold childcare qualifications. All our daily nannies have been personally interviewed and have had their references checked so we feel confident in providing you with the very best childminder for your little ones.
What are the different types of Daily Childcare?
Daily 'Live-out' nanny positions can either be sole charge where both parents are working or shared-charge, where the nanny works alongside a parent.
What are the standard working hours for Daily Nannies?
- Full time nannies - 10 hours a day, (Monday to Friday, usually 8am – 6pm)
- Part time nannies – hours to be agreed between you and your childminder
Can a Daily Nanny provide babysitting services too?
If you require your childminder to baby-sit on top of their standard working hours then this must be discussed and agreed before employment commencement. Most Nannies are happy to baby-sit Monday-Thursday if they are asked in advance and paid extra (£8 - £10 an hour)
What are the duties of a Live-Out Nanny?
Live-out, or ‘Daily Nannies’, undertake the full range of nursery duties relating to a child’s day-time care. This means providing care such as bathing, dressing and preparing nutritious meals.
Your live-out nanny will be expected to wash, iron and organise the children's clothes and belongings. She will ensure that toys are clean and safe, kept organised, and put away at the end of the day. She will also keep the play area clean and tidy. A daily nanny will ensure the children are kept active and that they become socially aware; for example she will organise play dates, attend baby classes, outings to the park, library etc.
A Nanny will use her knowledge and skills to further a child's development through play. She will provide activities such as creative arts and crafts, and construction play, and will engae in singing, reading and a variety of other learning activities.
A Nanny is not expected to do any heavy housework, family cooking or other chores not related to the children.
What is the salary for a Live Out Nanny?
Salaries will depend on age, experience, and the duties involved and will range from £400 to £500+ net per week. Please note these are only guide minimums; each position is individually negotiated and the more experienced daily nanny will command a higher salary than someone with less experience.
What about holiday entitlement for Daily Nannies?
Daily nannies are entitled to a minimum of 4-weeks paid holiday. National Bank holidays are given or additional payment is made. Holiday time is taken at a mutually agreed time. Some families agree holiday time using a combination of 2 weeks the employer chooses and 2 weeks the employee chooses.
If the family requires their childminder to come on holiday with them,
then this must be discussed and agreed prior to employment commencement.
All travels expenses, food and nanny’s weekly wage will also need to
be covered.
What are my responsibilities when I employ a nanny?
The employer of a daily nanny should provide her lunch during a normal working day. If the Nanny works overtime, or is taken on holiday, her breakfast and/or dinner should be provided as appropriate.
The employer is responsible for paying the nanny’s tax and national insurance. See our Nanny Tax section for more information.
